Date of birth: May 3 1993
He started studying the trombone at the age of six in the local Municipal Band of Pergine, later continuing the studies at the Musical High School (graduated 2012) and at the Trento Conservatory (Bachelor's Degree in 2013, Master's Degree in 2016 cum laude).
From January 2015 to October 2016 served as First Trombone at the O.G.I. (Italian Youth Orchestra) and from October 2016 as temporary second trombone at the "Carlo Felice" Opera Theatre.
Concert Activities
From 2010 to 2014 he took part in numerous Conservatory activities, in 2010 the opera "La Cenicienta", in 2011 the opera "La Fine di Mozart".
With the Conservatory Big Band in 2010 performed an all Kenny Wheeler program with Paolo Fresu guest star, in 2011 a Gil Evans program with Bruno Tommaso, in 2012 a Maria Schneider program with Luca Poletti, in 2013 a symphonic Duke Ellington program with Giancarlo Gazzani and Uri Caine, in 2014 a première of a symphonic piece by Gil Goldstein called "A World Accordion".
He also performs frequently with the FaRe Jazz Big Band, New Project Jazz Orchestra, BiFunk Band and the Funky Beat band (which he conducts). He has also performed at the "Mondi Sonori" and "Sonata Islands" Festivals with the project "Rossini Jazz Remix".
He has performed in the intercultural Festival "La Via Dei Concerti" in the 2011, 2012 editions.
Later that year he performed with other students with the "Haydn" Orchestra for a Xenakis and Mahler program with Matthew Herbert and in 2014 for a Riccardo Zandonai concert.
He has played and arranged for the ensemble BonportiBones (Conservatory ensemble) and the Slide and Friends Trombone Choir.
He also premiered the piece "Notizia" (composed by Raul Masu) for Solo Trombone the 12th of October 2012.
From January 2015 to October 2016 served as First Trombone at the O.G.I. (Italian Youth Orchestra) and he was conducted by Giampaolo Pretto, Nicola Paszkowski, Jeffrey Tate, Renato Rivolta, John Axelrod, Juraj Valcuha, Andris Poga e Stanislav Kochanovsky. from October 2016 as temporary second trombone at the "Carlo Felice" Opera Theatre.
In January 2017 the O.G.I. conducted by Giampaolo Pretto premiered at the Florence Opera Theatre "OGI Hymn" my first orchestral piece dedicated to the O.G.I.
Has performed as First Trombone for the start of the Season 2017 and for a Tournee in 2018. Later that year he also played with the "La Scala" Academy Orchestra conducted by Kristian Jarvi and Peter Rundel for the 25th anniversary performance of “The Yellow
Shark” by Frank Zappa (as Tenor and Bass Trombone) and later as First Trombone and Bass Trumpet for "The Rite of Spring" by Igor Stravinsky (orch. reduced da McPhee) at "La Scala" Theatre. In 2019 he performs the Stabat Mater by Antonin Dvorak with the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino conducted by Juraj Valcuha.
Auditions
He has been eligible for the "La Scala" Academy Orchestra, the O.G.I (Italian Youth Orchestra), the Haydn Orchestra and the "Carlo Felice" Opera Theatre Orchestra.
In 2018 he was in the final selection as Second Trombone at the "Accademia di Santa Cecilia" in Rome.
He also performed as Second Trombone at the "Maggio Musicale Fiorentino".
Masterclasses
He frequented courses and masterclasses with Andrea Conti, Massimo La Rosa, Charlie Vernon, Jay Friedman, Giuseppe Mendola, Andrea Bandini, Gabriele Malloggi and Ermes Giussani. He also attended three editions of the Summer Jazz Workshop (2011 Bassano del Grappa, 2012/13 Chioggia) with masterclasses held by the “New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music” as Brandon Lee, Kyle Gregory, Rory Stuart, Jeff Hirshfield and Marco Tamburini, as composer and trombone player.
Composition Activities
In 2008 he wrote his first original piece “Il mare sotto casa” for the ensemble of the Chamber Music class.
In 2010 he transcribes, orchestrate and conducts a "Nightwish and Epica" concert with a symphony orchestra. The same year he participate as composer in the “Opera By You” international project, working on the première of the opera “Free Will” (now visible online for free) to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Savonlinna Opera Festival.
In 2011 Nadia Bortolamedi e Tullio Garbari gave the première of his “Sonata LoL” for Clarinet and Piano.
With Luca Poletti and Andrea Ruocco wins First Prize as "Best Soundtrack" at the Trento Film Festival for the movie "Il tocco degli angeli".
In the summer 2015 the Brass Ensemble of the O.G.I. premièred “Song for Mr. Green Genes” a work I dedicated to Frank Zappa.
In February 2016 the O.G.I. commissions him the Official Hymn for the orchestra, which they premièred the 1st January 2017 at the Florence Opera Theatre. He also works as an arranger and composer for various big bands and ensembles.
Recordings
In 2012 he records “Don Ellis Reunion” with the “Villa Lagarina Big Band” a cd dedicated to the big band pieces of Don Ellis. With Christian Stanchina and Matteo Cuzzolin records for Matteo Abatti "Sei con me" from the album "Nella mia testa c'è".
In 2013 he records two CD's with the Fre Jazz Big Band, "Us" and"Up and Down the Moocho".
With the O.G.I. in October 2015 he records a concert for Radio3 conducted by Stanislav Kochanovsky at the "Auditorium Parco della Musica" (Rome) with a program including pieces by Glinka, Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff. In 2016 with the same orchestra he records another concert for Radio3 conducted by John Axelrod at the "Auditorium Parco della Musica" (Rome) with a program including pieces by Tchaikovsky, Respighi and Richard Strauss. With the "Haydn" Orchestra he records for Rai Suedtirol (in 2017) Sibelius Seventh Symphony and Brahms First Symphony conducted by Arno Volmer. With the New Project Big Band records various CD's for the label Alman Music (also as composer and arranger).
